Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen

A former regent’s seat to char your meeting, a majestic room to host the most tasteful dinner and marble surroundings for a swinging event. The Royal Tropical Institute offers the versatile location for classic and modern events alike. The building has ways been impressive, from the moment it opened its doors in 1926 until today. After almost a century, the unique structure is still considered one of the icons of Amsterdam.

The events at KIT are tailor-made: from grand symposiums to intimate dinners. It is right at the Oosterpark of Amsterdam and in the middle of bustling Amsterdam –  East, location wise for your internship it does not get much better! Besides the beautiful conference location where you will work for, our building houses Amsterdam Tropen hotel and the Tropen Café and restaurant as well. Situated across our green courtyard.

What is even more great is the fact that the guests regardless whether they organize a congress, reception or ball with us, they always contribute to a more sustainable world. At the Royal Tropical Institute, we embrace the United nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since the visit of Kofi Annan in 2019, our building is also known as the first SDG house of the Netherlands. Together with the dozens of companies and organizations housed under our roof, the experts of KIT’s knowledge Institute work on improving health care, food security and gender equality in developing countries. The profits including that of all conferences and events organized with us, benefit knowledge projects for sustainable development and international cooperation. A social responsible outlook that makes your event even better!
